Dear Clients & Family, Friends, and Colleagues;


I have decided it is time for me to retire from running a full time business and focus on my true love of providing psychotherapy/counseling to my clients.  I will be closing Alpine Counseling January 16, 2015.

Susan Heng LCSW, BCD, RPT-S

Susan Heng “Sue” earned her Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Iowa where she specialized in Individual, Children, and Families.  She is credentialed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Registered Play Therapy Supervisor, Certified Post Adoption Specialist, and the prestigious Diplomate in Clinical Social Work.  She is Certified in EMDR and IBSR.

Sue has almost 30 years of psychotherapy (counseling) experience with children and families.  She worked in a rural mental health office as the Program Coordinator and Therapist of the Child Sexual Abuse Program.  She worked as part of city wide child sexual abuse treatment team.  She worked at an inner city treatment center for abused and neglected infant and preschool children.  She worked with children, teens and adults in private practice and at mental health centers.

She specializes in play therapy and enjoys engaging children to communicate through play and working closely with their parnets.  She especially enjoys working with elementary age children, but works with ages birth through 18 with a variety of problems.  She treats a wide variety of problems. A few of particular interest are abuse and neglect, grief and loss, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, depression, ADHD, post adoption issues, behavior problems, academic problems, and mild to moderate autism.

Sue enjoys working with teen and adult survivors of abuse.  She is certified trained in EMDR and IBSR techniques to assist survivors to recover from their past.

She accepts most private insurances, Medicaid, Medicare, Employee Assistance Programs, and Tricare.

Her office hours are 8 am to 6 pm Monday through Thursday.  All are by appointment only.  Her office hours on Friday vary from week to week.  She can be reached at 208-552-1222.
